Miguel Drops New Single “Funeral”

Miguel blesses fans with a new single titled “Funeral.”
For this track, Miguel harkens back to the blend of the electronic-based soul that won him his initial fan base. Similar to “Adorn,” Miguel laces a bass-heavy electro instrumental with sultry lyrics. Yet “Funeral” purposely lacks the polish that is present on his earlier tracks, showcasing his artistic growth.
The tracks lyrics are also fitting for anyone who is still in the Halloween spirit. The singer uses images that are associated with death as a metaphor for a sexual encounter. “Fucking drilling in your dead soul… Summary goes to the mother and father because somebody’s daughter I just fucking slayed,” Miguel sings. “Blood on the carpet it came from my heart/Once I start I can’t stop it.”
“Funeral” follows Miguel’s participation in Alicia Keys‘ innovative installation. “Show Me Love” is a duet featuring the two singers that will appear on Keys’ upcoming seventh album. It was released through a video that premiered at the Dolby SoHo in New York City. The song went on to become an installation that was located at 477 Broadway in Manhattan. It was on display from Wednesday, Sept. 18 to Sunday, Sept. 22.
