Summer Walker Cancels a Number of Her Remaining Tour Dates Due to Social Anxiety

Written by on November 13, 2019

Summer Walker‘s First and Last Tour isn’t completely canceled; however, she has cut more than half of the remaining tour dates.

“… I truly appreciate all the support and love. As you know, I have been very open about my struggle with social anxiety. I want to continue to be healthy and to make music for y’all, so I have decided to cut down some of the dates on the tour,” she said in a statement to Complex. “I hope you all can understand. I’m grateful for every single one of you, and I hope that you understand that wellness is important. All cancelled dates will be refunded asap. Thank you. 🙏🏽🖤”

Walker’s team has confirmed she will still perform nine out of the previously announced remaining dates. The singer’s website has since been updated to reflect the abbreviated tour scheduled; however her Facebook page still lists the 29 gigs. The dates she canceled include Nov. 14 in Portland, Nov. 19 in Salt Lake City, Nov. 30 in Pittsburgh, Dec. 17 in Orlando, and Dec. 21 in Memphis.

The 23-year-old Atlanta artist announced her decision in a video posted social media on Tuesday.

The announcement arrived just days after Walker addressed criticism of her demeanor during meet-and-greets, and explained why she wasn’t as affectionate as some fans would like.

“… Now for those who’re upset b/c I don’t give hugs idk what to tell you…I’m an empath, and that transference of energy from that many people each day would literally KILL me,” she explained. “… So I ask you please respect my space in those moments.”

Summer Walker’s updated tour schedule:

Nov. 12 – San Francisco

Nov. 25 – Toronto

Nov. 26 – Chicago

Nov. 27 – Royal Oak

Dec. 2 – Boston

Dec. 5 – Philadelphia

Dec. 7 – NYC

Dec. 8 – NYC

Dec. 22 – Atlanta
