Baywatch actor Zac Efron is reportedly feeling better after contracting a serious infection while filming his newest show Killing Zac Efron in Papua New Guinea, according to reports.
The 32-year-old became sick from a bacterial infection before Christmas and was flown to a private hospital in Brisbane, Australia, where he was treated for several days last week, according to the Sunday Telegraph. An Australian medical evacuation company, Medical Rescue Group, flew him to the hospital.
According to reports, the actor contracted some “form of typhoid or similar bacterial infection” that brought about “a life or death medical emergency.
He flew back to the United States on Christmas Eve, the outlet reports. The actor appears to be doing better, as he recently showed up to pop-up event in Los Angeles.
Efron’s show, Killing Zac Efron, is set to appear on the upcoming short-form mobile video platform Quibi. The actor will play himself, as he “heads deep into the jungles of a remote, dangerous island to carve his own name in expedition history.” Photos of the actor in Papua New Guinea have surfaced online as well.
“I tend to thrive under extreme circumstances and seek out opportunities that challenge me on every level,” Efron said in November. “I am excited to explore any uncharted territory and discover what unexpected adventure awaits!”
