Ja Rule Roasted for Promoting His Tax Preparation Company

Written by on January 15, 2020

Would you trust a Ja Rule-owned company with your W2s? If you answered no, you’re definitely not alone.

On Tuesday, the entertainer/entrepreneur took to social media to promote Value Tax—a tax preparation company he now owns: “IT’S TAX SEASON!!! It’s simple, walk in let us do your taxes, walk out with cash in hand,” Rule wrote in a since-deleted tweet. “… we also do credit repair!”

To no one’s surprise, Rule was immediately roasted for the promo. The 43-year-old has had his fair share of IRS troubles, having received a 28-month prison sentence for tax evasion in 2011 and reportedly owing $2 million in back taxes in 2019. Furthermore, many Twitter users pointed to the fact that Rule was tied to the 2017 Fyre Festival, which is considered one of the biggest scams of the last decade. So, when you consider Rule’s past money issues and questionable business choices, it’s easy to understand why some people have hesitation … and a lot of jokes.

Rule went on to clarify that he does not personally handle people’s taxes, but simply owns Value Tax.

He also responded to the wave of hate he received, insisting he was unfazed.

As he continued to get dragged, Rule claimed he knew he would receive plenty and that this was all part of a masterplan to draw more attention to his company.
