Vic Mensa Arrested for Brass Knuckles in California

Vic Mensa was arrested for allegedly having a pair of brass knuckles, TMZ reports.
Law enforcement sources tell TMZ that the rapper was flagged down by Glendale, California police earlier this month for making an “unsafe turn” on his motorcycle. During the traffic stop, the police decided to frisk Mensa. This search led officers to find a pair of brass knuckles in Mensa’s pants pocket.
Brass knuckles are legal in most states as a means of self-defense. Yet in California, the object is considered an illegal weapon. Having the knuckles resulted in police booking Mensa on a charge of felony possession of brass knuckles. He was later released after posting a $20,000 bond. Fortunately, Mensa was able to avoid getting a traffic ticket.
Mensa’s arrest comes after he took rap music to task following the death of fellow Chicago native, Juice WRLD.
“I think that, as members of the hip-hop community, we need to take responsibility for the things that we say,” Vic said to TMZ. “We need to recognize that the shit we talk about influences children. So when we are steady pushing a message of lean and Percocets and Xans, we are polluting the minds of the youth. We have a responsibility to give it to them in a real way. Not to say that you can’t talk about your real life and the things that are happening but I think that we need to start holding each other and ourselves accountable for our glorification of the drug culture, 100 percent. That’s just what it is. Anything else, that’s parasitic to our people to just act like this is the shit to be on lean all the time.”
“And when we see these things happening to the young brothers, like rest in peace, Juice. Too early, 21. And rap is much to blame for it.”
