Lil Nas X‘s first official song of 2020 comes in the form of a collab with legendary rapper Nas. You can stream “Rodeo (Remix)” below.
The connection may come as a bit of a surprise, though the two did link on stage at the 2020 Grammy Awards, where Nas X assembled an all-star lineup to perform his mega-hit single “Old Town Road.” Other performers included Billy Ray Cyrus, BTS, Diplo, and Mason Ramsey.
“It feels amazing to have a track with Nas, and for Nas to acknowledge me,” Lil Nas X said. “This is the last thing I would have expected to be doing.”
Lil Nas X walked away with 2 awards on Sunday, including Best Pop Duo/Group Performance and Best Music Video for “Old Town Road.” The 20-year-old artist was also nominated for Album of the Year (7 EP), Record of the Year (“Old Town Road”), Best New Artist, and Best Rap/Sung Performance (“Old Town Road”).
In 2019, Lil Nas X experienced a meteoric rise. His single, “Old Town Road,” spent 19 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, breaking the record previously held by Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men’s “One Sweet Day” and Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s Justin Bieber-featuring “Despacito”; both songs tallied up 16 weeks in the top spot. “Old Town Road” was also certified diamond, becoming the fastest single in RIAA history to receive that distinction. His 7 EP also reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200 album chart.
