Esther Scott, best known for her role in 1991’s Boyz N the Hood, died last week at the age of 66, TMZ confirmed Tuesday.
The outlet reports Scott was found unconscious on Feb. 11 after suffering an apparent heart attack in her Santa Monica home. The Queens-born actress was then taken to the hospital, where she remained up until her death on Feb. 14.
“She loved what she did. She would get stopped on the street often and people would recognize her—but they didn’t know her name,” Scott’s sister, Shaun, told TMZ. “Hopefully now people will remember her name, her work and the contributions she gave to the entertainment industry.”
Scott began her career as a voice actress in 1985’s animated series Star Wars: Ewoks. She would go on to appear in a slew of projects throughout the next three decades, starring in TV shows like Full House, Hart of Dixie, The Steve Harvey Show, and Sister, Sister, as well as films such as Encino Man, Austin Powers in Goldmember, You Got Served, Dreamgirls, The Pursuit of Happyness, Transformers, and The Birth of a Nation.
