Written by on March 12, 2020

UPDATED 3/12, 1:06 a.m. ET: Nebraska has released a statement giving an update on Hoiberg’s condition. He was diagnosed with the influenza A and later rejoined his team at the hotel they are staying at.

See original story below.

Nebraska men’s basketball coach Fred Hoiberg was taken to the hospital during a Big Ten tournament game against Indiana after he looked to be ill on the sidelines, ESPN reported.

Hoiberg, who is 47, has previously had two open-heart surgeries.

After the game ended, in which the Indiana Hoosiers won 89-64, Nebraska players were reportedly not allowed to leave Bankers Life Fieldhouse arena.

It was later reported that the players were allowed to leave.

News of Hoiberg being hospitalized follows the announcement that the NBA is suspending the rest of the season due to coronavirus concerns.
