The NBA has suspended the rest of the season due to concerns regarding the coronavirus, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports.

News of the season being suspended comes after it was announced that Utah Jazz player Rudy Gobert tested positive for coronavirus.

Gobert’s diagnosis was revealed after the Thunder-Jazz game was postponed. Players and staff on both teams have been quarantined at Chesapeake Energy Arena.

The league’s decision to suspend games comes after ESPN reported that the NBA’s Board of Governors reached a consensus on not having fans attend arenas.

A short while after confirming that the Pelicans-Kings game would go on as scheduled, the game was canceled.

In wake of the NBA’s cancelations, Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban has said those who work at American Airlines Center and get paid hourly will be taken care of.

LeBron James responded to the news on social media. “Man we cancelling sporting events, school, office work, etc etc,” he wrote on Twitter. “What we really need to cancel is 2020! Damn it’s been a rough 3 months. God bless and stay safe.”
