Written by on April 21, 2020

The second round of Timbaland and Swizz Beatz‘s Verzuz battle series between Babyface and Teddy Riley went down on Monday night.

Although there were still some difficulties, things went much smoother this time around and the show was able to go on as planned.

As you’ve probably seen or heard by now, the first round between Riley and Babyface was delayed due to technical difficulties that inspired plenty of memes and frustration from viewers. Over 400,000 people tuned in to watch the back and forth.

“Tonight, shit happens, man … I’m actually cool with stopping the event to make sure it go right …” Swizz said after the first attempt went down. “A lot of people dressed up for tonight, a lot of people was in there for tonight, but we’re gonna put it back on—it’s going to be amazing. But we gotta respect those legends … I know when to call. We got to call it … Babyface put in too much work, Teddy put in too much, Babyface put in too much work.”

Monday night’s battle also saw huge viewership numbers with around 500,000 people tuning in. Some of the big names that were in attendance included Michelle Obama, Tyrese, Queen Latifah, Keyshia Cole, Skai Jackson, Rashida Jones, Pusha-T, Gabrielle Union, Diddy, Jadakiss, Fat Joe, Snoop Dogg, Raekwon, and many more.

“Thanks for taking us back down memory lane Teddy and Babyface with your classic hits!,” former first lady of the United States Michelle Obama wrote in the comments section of the stream.

Babyface played songs like Boyz II Men’s “I’ll Make Love To You,” Tevin Campbell’s “Can We Talk?,” and Bobby Brown’s “Everybody Little Step” while Riley played Hi-Face’s “I Like The Way,” Michael Jackson’s “Jam,” and Guy’s “I Like,” and much more.

Dr. Dre called Teddy Riley while he was on Live and revealed that he spoke with Diddy about doing a potential battle but said that he was unsure if he was down.
