The NFL is hosting a charity Draft-A-Thon in conjunction with the 2020 draft to raise money and awareness towards COVID-19 relief efforts. Night one of the event is hosted by the NFL Network’s Rich Eisen and Deion Sanders, and features a wide variety of athletes, celebrities, and personalities, including Kevin Hart, Quavo, Ninja, NFL stars Tyrann Mathieu, Devin McCourty, Torrey Smith, Rod Woodson, and Sneaker Shopping host Joe La Puma.
Donations opened prior to Thursday’s draft, and individuals along with organizations and companies are able to send in any amount they like. The event will be streamed on all of the NFL’s digital platforms as well as featured on ABC, ESPN, NFL Network, and ESPN Deportes throughout the entire NFL draft, from April 23-25.
There will also be a moment dedicated to the healthcare workers, first responders, and others on the front lines battling COVID-19. The fund will be then be donated to six separate health organizations including the American Red Cross, CDC Foundation’s All of Us: Combat Coronavirus Campaign, Feeding America, Meals on Wheels America, Salvation Army, and The United Way.
Prior to the Draft-A-Thon, the popular gaming group FaZe Clan teamed up with the NFL to deliver limited-edition merch featuring throwback NFL designs.
“Our merch collab and participating in the Draft-A-Thon will be the first time a lot of traditional sports fans and NFL fans will be introduced to esports,” said FaZe Clan founder FaZe Banks. “So this isn’t only a huge moment for FaZe Clan, but it’s big for esports in general.”
