Earl Sweatshirt Links Up With Maxo for New Song “Whole World”

We know, you’re bored in the house, but at least Earl Sweatshirt has released his new song “Whole World” to help you pass the time. The psychedelic-sounding track is the latest we’ve heard from the L.A.-based rapper since his last project Feet of Clay dropped in late 2019.
Prior to this, Earl sat down to have a candid one-on-one conversation at the Geffen Contemporary at MOCA in Los Angeles with his mother and scholar, Professor Cheryl Harris to talk art, music, and life. When discussing Feet of Clay, Earl said, “My mother was the person who gave me that phrase, in the context of vulnerability,” referring to the project. Earl also talked about his own writing process during the conversation.
“Rap music is slave music. Slave communication was encrypted, spoken in code, so really this is the new version of it,” he said. “Really, if I can understand it, I can teach it. Writing [music] is a meticulous process for me, it’s my own code. It takes a minute to figure out sometimes.” This is interesting to note, especially considering Feet of Clay came as somewhat of a surprise drop. In fact, this event and others like it were a part of a larger series that Earl was curating for his fans in Los Angeles around the release of the project as well.
You can stream “Whole Word,” which features Maxo and was produced by Alchemist, below.
In addition to the drop of the new song, it was announced that a limited edition deluxe vinyl for Feet of Clay, as well as some merch, will be released. The vinyl is set to drop on June 26 and will feature two new tracks.
