Lil Durk Helps Deliver Meals to Coronavirus Frontline Workers in Chicago

Written by on April 26, 2020

Lil Durk is giving back to those who continue to risk their lives while fighting the coronavirus pandemic.

On Friday, the 27-year-old rapper and his crew stopped by Chicago’s Rush University Medical Center to hand-deliver packaged meals to hospital workers. TMZ reports the food was prepared by PHLAVZ Bar & Grille, a restaurant owned by Durk’s manager. The team also prepared an additional 100 meals that healthcare workers were able to pick up Friday evening.

“I been living down in Atlanta, but everyone back home has been in my thoughts, especially those doing something for the community and all the neighborhood heroes,” Chicago native Durk said in a statement to Uproxx. “I thought about all the first responders putting their lives on the line to help out and it inspired me, so I took a jet back to Chicago to show my thanks … to show love and inspire our community to be strong and help one another out through these times.”

According to the Chicago Tribune, the city had a total of 16,200 confirmed coronavirus cases and nearly 700 deaths as of Saturday.

Durk is among the latest hip-hop stars to give back during the global health crisis, following names like Eminem, Kanye West, Slim Thug, Future, Meek Mill, and more.
