T-Pain Floats Idea for Post-Pandemic ‘Crunkchella’ Tour

Following the same route that many musicians have gone to provide entertainment in a mundane quarantined world, T-Pain squared off his hits against the hits of Lil Jon, with a “Verzuz” battle on Instagram Live that took place earlier this month.
Now, according to an interview he recently gave to Variety, T-Pain is talking about taking that same playlist, and utilizing it for a tour headlined by he and his same foe.
“What we’ve been talking about is taking that playlist from the battle and trying to apply it to a tour,” the rapper said.
Obviously that would take place at a time, post-pandemic, when such entertainment events can be held again. Also the tour, at least in concept, would include appearances from Ludacris, Pitbull, Usher, and others.
On account of it just being an idea at the moment, the tour is yet to get a name. But T-Pain has publicized a few ideas that the artists have come up with. “We might call it ‘The Jonathan Tour,’” he said. “’Crunkchella.’ We’ve also floated that around.”
In recent days, T-Pain has adapted to the new challenges presented to his industry by launching a #tpainsongwritingchallenge on TikTok, while also dropping “Wake Up Dead,” his first independently released single.
He’s also working on an album called On Top of the Covers. That will consist of famous covers. Makes sense.
Said album will see him covering stuff that you might not have previously been able to picture in your head, such as Frank Sinatra’s “That’s Life,” and Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs.” In keeping with that theme, Variety adds that there’s a plan to get together some of the nation’s top cover bands for the purpose of a tour.
On the non-music front, he’s playing a lot of Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Definitely jealous about that (see: Nintendo’s inability to get Switches to people without going through a scalper first). If you’re interested, check out his full interview at Variety.
