Here’s the Full Version of Tyler, the Creator’s “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch”

Written by on October 24, 2018

The Pharrell-narrated update of the ultraclassic Dr. Seuss tale How the Grinch Stole Christmas! is out in a matter of days. As previously reported with unbridled enthusiasm, the Illumination Entertainment and Universal Pictures production notably boasts new music from Tyler, the Creator. Today, we get the full version of Tyler’s take on “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch.”

The update marks a collaboration between Tyler and prolific Oscar-nominated composer Danny Elfman, who’s previously created some magic with Tim Burton and Henry Selick. In addition to this reimagining of the Thurl Ravenscroft-performed 1966 original, the soundtrack for the 2018 edition of The Grinch will feature an all-new Tyler track titled “I Am the Grinch.”

Stream “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch” up top via YouTube and/or below via Apple Music.

The Grinch also features the voice talent of Benedict Cumberbatch, Rashida Jones, Kenan Thompson, Cameron Seely, and Angela Lansbury. Scott Mosier and Yarrow Cheney co-directed. The film opens Nov. 9.

The following day, Tyler’s Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival hits Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. This year’s lineup sees ASAP Rocky, BROCKHAMPTON, Post Malone, Billie Eilish, Playboi Carti, Pusha-T, Virgil Abloh, SZA, Jaden Smith, Earl Sweatshirt, and many more taking the stage. The Grinch is listed as a festival sponsor alongside Converse, YouTube Music, New Era, Truth, Mophie, and M&M’s.
