Woman Asked for Man Named ‘Jonathan’ Before Shooting Up Bronx Bodega

Written by on April 7, 2021

A 41-year-old woman who was captured by a surveillance camera firing a gun at a Bronx bodega employee behind the counter was allegedly hunting for a man named Jonathan before firing the shots, the New York Daily News reports

That version of events comes from prosecutors, who say that Jackelyn Clasen asked “Where’s Jonathan?” and added “Where he at? Tell him to stop playing with me or I will kill you and him!” prior to opening fire on the employee around 1 a.m. on Thursday, April 1.

George Lugo was the man on shift at the time.

“I looked up and saw the barrel of a gun,” he told the Daily News. “I heard the first click and knew she was going to shoot me.”

The first shot jammed, but the others did not. Thankfully for Lugo she hit a counter and the ceiling before speeding off in a sedan.

The two apparently have history by way of Lugo once dating Classen’s sister-in-law. The NYDN says that relationship ended a year ago.

Classen was allegedly on a mission to seek revenge against anyone who her estranged husband is related to. Lugo says she believes that her estranged husband molested her daughter.

“Everybody she thinks is related to or friends of his, she’s going after,” Lugo added. “She is out for blood.”

This contradicts a report that came out the day before the Daily News’ article in which cops said she didn’t “exchange words with the employee prior to the incident.” It was also said in that article that “the worker told police he did not know the shooter.”

Classen was arrested earlier this week and charged with attempted murder, weapon possession, reckless endangerment, attempted assault and harassment. Her bail was set at $100,000.
