Dior Unveils Light Installation Takeover at Saks Flagship in New York

For the first time, a designer is taking over the iconic Saks New York flagship facade.
Starting this week, the facade of the Saks New York flagship will feature a light installation of colorful faces and silhouettes designed by visual artist Marco Lodola, whose inventive work served as the inspiration behind Dior’s Fall 2021 collection aesthetic.
Per a press release, Dior is also taking over Saks’ center six windows, as well as reimagine spaces throughout the store using visual installations boasting Lodola’s designs in colors that are carefully coordinated to complement the Dior collection.
The Dior x Saks experience also includes a silhouette light installation at the Dior handbag boutique, a Christian Dior logo neon light installation at the ready-to-wear boutique, a Vespa sculpture installation and Dior footwear display, and creative visual displays in multiple regions.
“We wanted to maintain a deep respect for the city that hosts the store so that the boutique and its scenography would blend perfectly with the personality of the city while preserving the Pop style of the installation,’ Lodolo told Women’s Wear Daily when outlining his plans for the takeover. “For Saks Fifth Avenue in New York, we reinterpreted motifs in my artistic universe—like faces—in the store’s display windows and on the facade. Inside, we reinvented the Vespa and Dior silhouettes.”
The Lodola experience at Saks Fifth Avenue will remain on view until May 26.
