Macaulay Culkin Reenacts ‘Home Alone’ as an Adult in New Ad

It’s less than a week until Christmas, folks! That means it’s time to bask in your favorite holiday films. Elf. The Grinch. And of course, Home Alone.
For a new ad, Macaulay Culkin returns to reenact the classic film with the help of internet-enabled devices that make us all feel old. The 38-year-old carries out some of the most famous scene of the film—released in 1990, when he was 10—as a grown-up Kevin McCallister using Google Assistant.
Upon first waking up, Culkin asks Google what’s on the calendar for the day; it responds “house to yourself.” He later asks to order more aftershave without reenacting the famous scream, and requests a reminder to fix a bed after he tries but ceases to jump on a bed because of back pain.
In the past, Culkin has expressed his desire to distance himself from the film, and even avoids going out for the holidays as to not be confronted by fans. “I definitely don’t [go out],” he said on Ellen last year. “It’s my ‘season.’ It’s Macaulay season. I try to go out less and less around that time of year.”
Now it looks he had a change of heart, as Culkin leans all the way into his Home Alone character as the film turns 28.
Toward the end of the ad, he asks Google to enact “Operation Kevin.” A cutout copy of Kevin Durant pops up to scare away burglars scoping out his house. Nothing like a little nostalgia mixed with current pop culture. Watch the full ad up top.
