Avicii’s Parents Will Inherit the Late DJ’s Massive Fortune

Avicii‘s eight-figure fortune will reportedly go to his parents.
According to Swedish legal documents obtained by Billboard, the late DJ’s mom and dad—Anki Liden and Klas Bergling—will inherent their late son’s $25 million financial estate. The outlet points out that Avicii did not create a will before his untimely death earlier this year; however, Liden and Bergling are legally entitled to his wealth. They will take whatever remains of his wealth after national and international taxes.
Avicii—birth name Tim Bergling—was found dead of an apparent suicide on April 20 near Muscat, Oman. He was 28.
“When he stopped touring, he wanted to find a balance in life to be happy and be able to do what he loved most—music,” his family wrote in a statement, following his death. “He really struggled with thoughts about Meaning, Life, Happiness. He could not go on any longer. He wanted to find peace.”
Avicii was quite charitable throughout his career, giving to organizations like (RED) and Radiohjalpen, as well as founding his own nonprofit House For Hunger.
“I discovered when I started making money that I didn’t really need it,” Avicii said in 2013, according to the Mirror. “When you have such an excess of money you don’t need, the most sensible, most human and completely obvious thing is to give to people in need.”
The DJ’s life is the focus of a 2017 documentary titled Avicii: True Stories. The film will hit Netflix on Dec. 28.
