Manny Pacquiao Takes Swipe at Floyd Mayweather After Tenshin Nasukawa Exhibition Fight

Written by on January 1, 2019

In light of Floyd Mayweather making quick work of 20-year-old kickboxing phenom Tenshin Nasukawa in their New Year’s Eve exhibition match, Manny Pacquiao posted an early version of his lone resolution for 2019, which appears to be a clear reference to the lopsided victory of his longtime nemesis.

Pacquiao’s goal to “only fight experienced opponents who are my size or bigger” is a jab directed at Mayweather for taking on Nasukawa, who was believed to be 20 pounds lighter than Floyd. Manny could also be peppering these shots at Mayweather in the hopes of getting a rematch.

Earlier this month, Pac-Man was quite adamant about getting back in the ring with Mayweather to, at least, make amends with the fans who were disappointed with how their first bout turned out. “I think definitely we should have another fight to answer those questions and for the people to stop asking those questions,” Pacquiao told TMZ.

Floyd, however, maintains that despite what you saw in his match with Nasukawa, he’s still retired. “It was all about entertainment,” he said following the fight. “We had fun. Tokyo, you were amazing, but I’m still retired. We’re both still undefeated. Tenshin is still a champion and a great fighter.”

Of course, money has always been a persuasive language for Floyd. If Pacquiao can secure a purse that greatly exceeds the rumored $9 million he received for fighting Nasukawa, then maybe we can get the ball rolling on this rematch.
