Trump Claims He’s the Only One in the White House Amid Partial Government Shutdown

Written by on January 13, 2019

Donald Trump would like you to know that he showed up for work today, and for that, he believes he should be applauded

In his latest tweetstorm, Donald Trump used his social media soapbox to condemn Democrats for allegedly being on “vacation,” reject the notion that his administration is dysfunctional and assert that he’s the only person in the White House amid the longest government shutdown in U.S. history.

“I just watched a Fake reporter from the Amazon Washington Post say the White House is “chaotic, there does not seem to be a strategy for this Shutdown. There is no plan.” The Fakes always like talking Chaos, there is NONE. In fact, there’s almost nobody in the W.H. but me,” the president tweeted on Saturday.

“I do have a plan on the Shutdown. But to understand that plan you would have to understand the fact that I won the election, and I promised safety and security for the American people,” he continued. “Part of that promise was a Wall at the Southern Border. Elections have consequences!”

Since the government officially shut down on Dec. 22, the president has repeatedly taken to Twitter to inform his followers that he’s still at the White House. Despite the 800,000 federal workers who are not being paid, TSA operations nearly coming to a halt, and the national park and museum closures, Donald has used this impasse as a means of congratulating himself and vilifying Democrats.

Saturday marks the fourth week of the ongoing government shutdown, one day after federal employees missed their first paycheck as a result of deadlock over border security.

Despite the president’s claims that he has a “plan on the shutdown,” Trump has vowed not to budge until 5 billion dollars is allocated towards the construction of his proposed border wall. Senate and House Democrats have said they are only willing to assign $1.3 billion towards border security.

Trump has continuously referred to the situation at the border as a “humanitarian crisis,” and continued to echo that assumption on Saturday. “We have a massive Humanitarian Crisis at our Southern Border. We will be out for a long time unless the Democrats come back from their “vacations” and get back to work. I am in the White House ready to sign,” he wrote.

Despite his hysteric claims, the president has been accused of projecting false information during his assessments of border security, most likely to stir panic that he hopes will trigger action.
