Former ASU Guard Jermaine Marshall Dead at 28

Jermaine Marshall, a former Arizona State basketball star, has died at the age of 28. The athlete’s French professional team shared the tragic news online Friday.
“The Club joins the pain of his family and loved ones and gives them all his support to face this terrible ordeal,” Hermine Nantes Basket said in an online statement translated from French. “The NBH is unable to play its match against ADA Blois on Saturday 19 January and asked the LNB and ADA Blois to postpone the match at a later date.”
According to Sports Illustrated, HNB’s original statement revealed Marshall was found dead inside his apartment in Nantes, France—a detail that has since been removed. The ahtlete’s cause of death has not been confirmed.
Before moving to Europe, the Pennyslvania native played three years with Penn State before transfering to ASU in his senior year, averaging 15.1 points and 3.4 rebounds in 32 games. The Sun Devils paid tribute to Marshall on Twitter:
Marshall had a brief stint with the Houston Rockets during the 2014-15 season, and went on to play for a number of European teams in Greece, Italy, Netherlands, and Finland.
