Aaron Paul Says Netflix Decided This Was Going to Be the Final Season of ‘BoJack Horseman’

Written by on September 28, 2019

The trailer for season 6 of BoJack Horseman arrived with news that the season would also be its last. The animated comedy-drama will run for an extended 16-episode season split into two parts, but star Aaron Paul implied making this goodbye wasn’t the showcreators’ choice.

“We had a wonderful time making BoJack,” Paul tweeted to a fan begging for it to keep going. “Couldn’t be more proud. Fell in love with these characters just like everyone else did but sadly Netflix thought it was time to close the curtains and so here we are. They gave us a home for 6 beautiful years. Nothing we could do about it.”

While some fans had assumed that the writers and creators of the show felt it was about time to reach a conclusion, Paul has said otherwise. One of the directors behind the series even implied it was the creative team that decided on the endpoint. “Yeah don’t worry it’s the last season on purpose,” Aaron Long tweeted, somewhat contradicting Paul’s comments.

The actor and executive producer, who returns as Jesse Pinkman in Netflix’s Breaking Bad movie, at least appeared very grateful for the streaming giant’s support for BoJack. Thus far, he’s the only person involved with the show to discuss who decided to pull the plug.

The first half of the final season will hit Netflix on Oct. 25, while the second part will follow in Jan. 31, 2020.
