Aaron Rodgers’ Record Streak Without an Interception Snapped

Written by on December 17, 2018

Aaron Rodgers‘ NFL record streak of passing attempts without an interception came to an end Sunday when he was picked off late in the 4th quarter by Chicago Bears safety Eddie Jackson. With the Green Bay Packers facing 3rd and goal with just over three minutes remaining, Rodgers looked to cut the Bears’ lead to single digits by forcing a pass up the middle to his tight end Jimmy Graham, but the ball was tipped into the hands of Jackson.

Jackson suffered a right ankle sprain during the interception return. Rodgers’ streak, which came to an end at 402 passing attempts, surpassed the old mark of 358 held by Tom Brady last week.

“That’s part of the game,” Rodgers said about the record, per ESPN. “I’ve had two interceptions in however many attempts. I feel pretty good about the way I’ve taken care of the football this season. We just haven’t made enough big plays over the year. That’s why the completion percentage is what it is and yards per attempt is what it is and touchdowns are where they’re at, so that stuff’s disappointing. I’ve had interception streaks in the past. I had a long one at home—500-plus. Hopefully I’ll start a new one.”

Rodgers’ completion percentage this season (62.0) is his lowest since 2015 while his 25 touchdown passes could possibly become his lowest total in a full season in nearly a decade.
