Written by on October 24, 2022

Actor, comedian, and writer Leslie Jordan has died at age 67 after he suffered an apparent medical emergency and crashed his car.

As TMZ reports, law enforcement sources said that he was driving his car in Hollywood on Monday when he crashed his BMW after suffering an unspecified medical emergency.

“The world is definitely a much darker place today without the love and light of Leslie Jordan,” said Jordan’s agent, David Shaul, per Variety. “Not only was he a mega talent and joy to work with, but he provided an emotional sanctuary to the nation at one of its most difficult times. What he lacked in height he made up for in generosity and greatness as a son, brother, artist, comedian, partner and human being. Knowing that he has left the world at the height of both his professional and personal life is the only solace one can have today.”

The beloved star was known for his roles in Will & GraceHearts AfireAmerican Horror Story, and more recently Call Me Kat. He won the Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series in 2006 for his role as Beverly Leslie in Will & Grace.

Jordan appeared on stage many times throughout his career, and became a viral sensation on Instagram amid the COVID-19 pandemic. His most famous stage role was as Earl “Brother Boy” Ingram in Sordid Lives, which he later reprised in the 2000 film of the same name. He also made appearances in a number of films, including The HelpThe United States Vs. Billie Holiday, and Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday.

Jordan has served as a guest panelist on The Masked Singer, and earlier this year he served as a guest director on RuPaul’s Drag Race. In 2021, he received the GALECA: The Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics’ Timeless Star award.
