Adam Gase on Keeping Le’Veon Bell in New York: ‘I’m Not in Charge of Personnel’

Tensions appear to be running high within the Jets organization.
While fielding questions about the team’s future lineup, head coach Adam Gase was asked if he wanted superstar running back Le’Veon Bell to return to the franchise.
“He’s under contract for three more years,” Gase responded. “You can ask [general manager] Joe [Douglas] tomorrow… I’m not in charge of personnel.”
Gase’s response quickly hit the internet. Bell caught wind of his coach’s comments and decided to respond by quote tweeting a post containing a clip of the exchange with a gif from The Office.
Gase reportedly hasn’t been keen on Bell even before he signed with the team. Sources say that Gase liked Bell as a player but didn’t think he was worth a four-year, $52.5 million contract.
Bell has also been open about not being a focal piece of the offense. He claimed that if he were to get more touches, then he could return to the Bell that fans know and love.
