On Sunday evening, Alex Rodriguez was in San Francisco to color commentate during ESPN’s national broadcast of the Phillies-Giants game.

Unbeknownst to him, shortly after he was through working, his rental car was being robbed by one or more Bay Area thieves. In fact, according to TMZ Sports, A-Rod lost roughly half-a-million dollars worth of stuff as a result of the theft, which occurred about three blocks away from Oracle Park (a.k.a. the stadium he was broadcasting from).

According to those in law enforcement who spoke to TMZ, Rodriguez’s rental SUV was busted into between 9 and 11 p.m. The person or persons involved with the crime made off with about $500k worth of jewelry and electronics. These electronics reportedly involved a “laptop, camera, and a bag.

Rodriguez had spent nearly the entire Sunday at the park prior to the evening broadcast of Sunday Night Baseball. TMZ adds that law enforcement has listed the case as a high priority, and that investigators worked throughout the night to acquire evidence.
