Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez announced Wednesday that she will be the first guest on the series premiere of Desus & Mero. Deadline reports Desus Nice and The Kid Mero will visit Ocasio-Cortez in her new office in D.C. where they want to make their fellow Bronx native “feel at home.”
Back in August, Desus & Mero producer Tommy Alter posted a photo of the comedy duo with A.O.C.
During her brief time in office, Ocasio-Cortez has become an outspoken voice in the Democratic Party who has drawn the ire of pundits supporting the ones across the aisle, and occasionally rubbed those in her own party the wrong way. A.O.C. has proven that she is more than just all talk by pushing the Green New Deal policy, which aims to deal with the ever-growing issue of climate change.
Last week, Netflix paid a staggering $10 million for the worldwide rights to the documentary film Knock Down the House, which follows the campaigns of Ocasio-Cortez and three progressive female candidates—West Virginia’s Paula Jean Swearengin, Amy Vilela of Nevada, and Missouri’s Cori Bush—as they compete in last year’s midterm election.
Future Desus & Mero guests include Pusha-T, Vince Staples, Ben Stiller, John Legend, Issa Rae, and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand.
The premiere will take place on Thursday, February 21 at 11 p.m. on Showtime.
