Amanda Nunes Thinks She’s UFC GOAT After Win Over Cyborg

Written by on January 5, 2019

Amanda Nunes believes she’s earned the title of best to ever do it after handily defeating Cris Cyborg at UFC 232. The current belt-holder in multiple weight classes told TMZ that she’s the greatest fighter in the history of the organization.

The 30-year-old does have a bit of a point. Her win over Cyborg made her only the third fighter in UFC history to hold two championships simultaneously. Conor McGregor and Daniel Cormier have done it in the past, but Nunes is the first woman ever to pull it off.

While Nunes’ 17-4 record doesn’t exactly hop off the page, those victories came against a who’s who of women’s MMA. She’s defeated   Ronda Rousey, Miesha Tate and Cyborg, who was widely considered the best female MMA fighter before losing in the first round to Nunes.

Nunes is currently ranked as the best female fighter in the world, according to ESPN’s pound-for-pound rankings. As UFC fighter and coach Mike Brown pointed out on Twitter, Nunes has defeated almost every former champion in the three weight classes in which she’s fought.

The only exception is Holly Holm, and a match between the pair seems likely. Holm said she was interested in a fight to win back the bantamweight title from Nunes after a recent fight in Chicago.

“I think anything you lose, you want back,” Holm said. “Something that’s dear to you, that’s probably close to my heart, but I want it all. I don’t think that you even get in this game if you don’t want it all. I want it all. I want victories, I want belts, I want all of it.”

Nunes made it clear that she’s down to take on the former champ.
