Anitta has dropped her new Missy Elliott-assisted single “Lobby,” giving it the visual treatment with a vibrant new music video that follows both artists enjoying their stay at a swanky hotel.
Anitta teased the release on Wednesday by piecing together a quick montage for Instagram, writing “Are you ready for #Lobby?”
The latest single from the “Envolver” singer arrives shortly after she linked up with Maluma for her single “El Que Espera” earlier in August. The singer also dropped the video for “Gata” earlier this month. The Brazilian crooner’s deluxe release of her Versions of Me project is set to drop on August 25. The original project dropped back on April 12 and featured appearances from Chencho Corleone, Afro B, Khalid, Saweetie, Cardi B, and others.
Anitta also linked with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1 to discuss the new single and spoke about how she has been influenced by Missy Elliott.
“Having a person for me is so iconic, not only for me but for the whole world, is so iconic and then having this person working with you… doing something with you,” Anitta said. “That’s unbelievable. I would never imagine that, even in my most amazing dreams. I grew up my whole… when I was a teenager I used to look at her videos and everything and just… she’s iconic.”
As for Missy, she was recently honored in her hometown of Portsmouth, Virginia with her very own street. Officials will rename a portion of McLean Street, near Portsmouth’s entertainment district, to Missy Elliott Boulevard. The four-time Grammy winner wrote on social media that she was, “forever grateful” for the honor.
“We don’t do a good job recognizing our own heroes that’s right here from Portsmouth,” Missy Elliott’s family friend Erin Carter said during the city council meeting. “Growing up I learned that this same girl [Elliot] who’s received all these awards, performed at the White House…she grew up right here in our city of Portsmouth. Children shouldn’t have to look to another city to see greatness, because greatness resides in Portsmouth.”
