As expected, Apple pulled the curtain back on an all-new take on the ubiquitous MacBook Pro on Monday as part of its special “Unleashed” livestream event.

Fittingly billed as a “game-changing” entry in the company’s product arsenal, the new Pro boasts a 1080p FaceTime camera and excitingly overhauled audio system. The Pro is powered by the new M1 Pro and M1 Max chips, both of which also received extended special attention during Monday’s event.

A Liquid Retina XDR display, a multitude of port options, and a number of other worthy-of-a-closer-look specs combine for a welcomed update to the MacBook family that should give creatives and others who rely on the Pro experience for their respective day-to-day work and/or personal tasks.

Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior VP of worldwide marketing, said in a press release on Monday that the new Pro “has no equal” and will stand as “by far the best pro notebook” ever made by Apple.

The Pro’s unveiling during the “Unleashed” event, available to rewatch in full above, was met with immediate reactions ranging from the ecstatic (especially among people who put a lot of mileage on their Pro and are stoked about performance improvements) to the still-stoked-although-confused takes regarding the lack of Face ID.

Below, peep a sampling of those reactions. And for a rundown of highlights from Monday’s hour-long event, click here

Apple, of course, is only a month removed from the launch of the new iPhone 13 during its “California Streaming” special. Revisit that here.
