‘Aquaman’ Gets Positive Reception With Early Reviews

Early reviews for Aquaman are starting to come in, and it looks like the film doesn’t disappoint. Following a mixed response to the 2017 movie Justice League, the DC Extended Universe needed to see their latest superhero flick succeed—critically and commercially—as they swung for the fences with their Jason Momoa-led feature. With James Wan at the helm, Aquaman promised to be an incredibly ambitious joyride, if his work as director of Furious 7 was any indication of what we could expect to see.
Within the first few moments of watching the final trailer, your immediate impression is that Wan has successfully met the challenge of creating the aquatic civilization of Atlantis. The colors are vibrant, the world feels vast, and there seems to be a consistent eye on the fact that it’s entirely underwater. But, then again, it’s always best to temper your expectations because any film can look incredible in a one-to-two minute trailer.
Now that people have finally laid eyes on a more finished product, it looks like the film’s action sequences, along with the visuals are something to behold.
Like every superhero film, Aquaman has some flaws, but luckily, those moments don’t take away from the overall experience.
In an otherwise disappointing Justice League, Momoa’s turn as Aquaman was one of the few brights spots to come out of the movie. It should come as no surprise that he has once again captivated audiences with his role as the titular character.
Aquaman will hit theaters on December 21, 2018.
