Arnold Schwarzenegger remains a beast.
On Saturday, the action star and former California governor was blindsided during an event in Johannesburg, South Africa. Viral footage showed the 71-year-old speaking with fans before an unidentified man ran up behind him and dropkicked in the back. The ex-Mr. Olympia was nudged forward, and the attacker was immediately detained by security.
“Thanks for your concerns, but there is nothing to worry about. I thought I was just jostled by the crowd, which happens a lot,” Schwarzenegger tweeted after the video began making the rounds. “I only realized I was kicked when I saw the video like all of you. I’m just glad the idiot didn’t interrupt my Snapchat.”
The assault occurred during a gymnastics competition at the Arnold Classic Africa. Event organizer Wayne Price said in a statement that the attacker was “known to the police for orchestrating similar incidents in the past.” Price also noted the event has continued as planned, and that Schwarzenegger does not intend to press charges.
Schwarzenegger encouraged his fans not to share the video because he does not want the attacker to “get the spotlight.” He instead asked his followers to go to his Snapchat to support the athletes who are participating in this weekend’s event.
