Austin Fraternity Allegedly Bought $7,500 of White Claw Amid National Shortage

White Claw, the hard seltzer that has gripped the States, is currently experiencing a nationwide shortage. The company behind the alcoholic beverage confirmed as such last week, revealing just how successful the low calorie seltzer drink really is. Assumedly inspired by the impending shortage, one Austin, Texas fraternity invested in a whopping $7,500 worth of White Claw for themselves.
H-E-B supermarket worker Aaliyah Trevino tweeted a picture of the fraternity’s purchase, which needed to be placed on a stock trolley of sorts. She tagged the post with “#whiteclawshortage,” although she has since deleted the tweet. While it’s not clear why she deleted her tweet showing the White Claw purchase, the image of the impressive haul remains.
As Vice reports, no fraternity in Austin has taken responsibility for purchasing the $7,500 worth of White Claw yet. Either way, the frat managed to get ahold of as much as they could just in time. “We are working around the clock to increase supply given the rapid growth in consumer demand,” White Claw Senior Vice President of Marketing Sanjiv Gajiwala said earlier this month. “White Claw has accelerated faster than anyone could have predicted.”
If the fraternity is reading this, just know there are other varieties of alcohol that exist, too.
