Baauer Announces New Album ‘Planet’s Mad’ and Drops Video for Title Track

We should’ve known.
When Baauer‘s Danny Brown collaboration “Ready to Go” dropped around the end of December, we should’ve known that Baauer had some more heat up his sleeve. Today, LuckyMe announced that Baauer’s next album, Planet’s Mad, will drop this summer. That’s four years after the release of Aa, an album that allowed him to truly depart from the biggest hit of his career. On Planet’s Mad, it looks like Baauer’s dived deeper, and the title track, which got a chaotic visual, is proof of that.
Baauer’s no stranger to different BPMs, but “Planet’s Mad” really ups the ante. The guitars drive a larger, more epic feel that is punctuated with that thunderous bassline, building up loads of intensity. The music video, directed by Rick Farin and his studio Actual Objects, feels like how the NPCs feel in the PS4 Marvel’s Spider-Man game during some of those more insane city-crumbling events. Baauer’s in the thick of it, trying to understand the insanity, which only ratchets up the crazy visuals (set to another Planet’s Mad track, “Magic”), introducing us to the figures that appear to be inhabiting the world Baauer’s crafted on Planet’s Mad.
Check out the visual for “Planet’s Mad” up above, and be sure to pre-order the album before it drops June 5.
