Bella Thorne Will Make Feature Directorial Debut With Upcoming Thriller Film

Written by on November 5, 2019

Deadline reports that Bella Thorne has signed on to make her feature directorial debut with an “elevated thriller” that will begin shooting in summer 2020. Thorne is also expected to have a supporting role in the film. The details of the movie’s script, which has been written by Zander Coté, is currently being kept under wraps.

“We are thrilled to partner with Bella on her feature directing debut,” David Bernon of Burn Later Productions said in a statement. “She’s about to leave an indelible mark on the genre, and we can’t wait for audiences to discover her bold vision.”

Thorne expressed her excitement towards the opportunity on Instagram. While on Twitter, Bella wanted to acknowledge what she has been able to accomplish by the age of 22.

The thriller/horror genre has recently become a popular way for the likes of Jordan Peele (Get Out) and John Krasinski (A Quiet Place) to crossover from being in front of the camera to making their feature directorial debut, and Thorne will be following that same formula. However, it’s worth noting that Thorne was behind the camera earlier this year for Pornhub‘s Her & Him, a film she recalls shopping around for “a very long time” before the adult film site hopped on to produce.

Her & Him is a modernistic, sexually explicit Romeo and Juliet-like depiction of two star-crossed lovers who have unbridled sexual longing for each other,” Pornhub’s vice president Corey Price said of the feature. Thorne revealed in a behind-the-scenes video connected to the feature that she originally wanted “to make a Christmas horror movie” before this opportunity came along.

Thorne was given the Pornhub Vision Award in October for Her & Him, joining last year’s winner Young M.A for her film The Gift.
