The era of Ben Affleck’s Batman, fondly know as “Batfleck” in the DCEU fandom, is not over yet.

While talking at a screener for his upcoming coming-of-age drama The Tender Bar, directed by George Clooney, Affleck talked about returning to play the caped crusader in the Andy Muschietti-directed The Flash, starring alongside Ezra Miller. When talking about returning to the role, the actor cited how it was nice to play Batman now compared to the “difficult” experience he had while filming Justice League.

“It was a really nice way to revisit that as the prior experience had been difficult,” Affleck explained to Variety’s Marc Malkin. “This was really lovely. Really fun.”

While adding that he had “a great time” reprising his role, Affleck also joked that he probably wasn’t supposed to talk about his appearance in the upcoming superhero film that’s slated to come out in November 2022.

“I’m probably under some gag order that I’m not even aware that I probably just violated and I’m now going to be sued,” he said with a laugh.

Affleck also praised Miller and said he was able to connect with Jason Momoa.

“I love Ezra and I had a chance to see Jason [Momoa], who’s over there making ‘Aquaman [and the Lost Kingdom],’” the actor said.

Elsewhere in the conversation, Affleck explained what The Tender Bar is all about, a film based on Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist J.R. Moehringer’s memoir.

“It’s a movie about kindness and love and support and goodness, ultimately, of people,” he said. “I think the world is a tough and ugly place, particularly now, so I feel good injecting this movie onto the world.”

The Tender Bar hits theaters on Dec. 22, and will be available on Amazon Prime Video on Jan. 7, 2022.
