Bennedict Mathurin, Andrew Nembhard to Represent Canada At NBA Rising Stars
Written by SOURCE on February 1, 2023
Bennedict Mathurin and Andrew Nembhard of the Indiana Pacers are set to appear in this year’s NBA Rising Stars game during the league’s All-Star festivities.
Joining the two rookie Canadians is Leonard Miller, a prospect playing for the G League Ignite who is expected to be a first-round pick in the 2023 Draft.
Mathurin is currently in the mix for this year’s Rookie of the Year award, putting up averages of 17.9 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game.
Nembhard has carved a rotational bench role for himself on the Pacers, putting up 8.5 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 4 assists per game.
Scottie Barnes will represent the Toronto Raptors at this year’s Rising Stars game.
Though it’s taken some time for the sophomore wing to adjust in his second year, he’s bounced back in the last few weeks.
In his second year, Barnes is averaging 15.7 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 4.9 assists per game. The 21-year-old has steadily improved throughout the year averaging 18.1 points, 7.4 rebounds, 5.6 assists, and 1.2 steals per game since the start of the new year.
The Rising Stars games will feature three teams composed of NBA players and a single team made up of G League players. The four teams will duke it out in a three-game tournament on Feb. 17 in Salt Lake City.
