Benny the Butcher Talks Freddie Gibbs Beef, Says He Thought They Were Cool

Earlier this year, Benny the Butcher and Freddie Gibbs traded shots on social media after the former said their working relationship “came and went.”
A month or so removed from their public back-and-forth, Benny addressed his relationship with Freddie during a recent appearance on Drink Champs.
“What the fuck is up with you and Freddie Gibbs, man?” N.O.R.E. asked Benny at the 27:30 mark of the interview. “I thought y’all was homies. Y’all went on tour, and all this shit.”
Benny downplayed their rumored beef, saying, “Really, it ain’t nothing… I don’t get too into rap relationships with n***as ‘cause a lot of times it don’t be real. That n***a put a tweet up or some weird shit and I wouldn’t know why he did that shit.”
When asked what caused the beef, Benny admitted that he wasn’t sure what exactly caused it.
“I don’t know,” he said. “I don’t even care to ponder on it because this shit will get crazy if you start letting your feelings in this shit.”
Back in March, Benny appeared on Spotify Greenroom, where he was asked about whether he had any future collaborations lined up with Gibbs. The pair previously joined forces on Freddie’s 2020 album Alfredo for “Frank Lucas,” as well as on Benny’s 2020 LP Burden of Proof with “One Way Flight.”
That moment of working together “came and went, to be honest with you,” Benny was quoted as saying. “It’s all love.”
It didn’t take long for Freddie to respond, as the Gary, Indiana rapper replied to a Spotify tweet that highlighted Benny’s quote.
“Came and went lol,” Gibbs replied.
From there, Freddie took to his Instagram Stories to address Benny’s comments again.
“N***a said working with Freddie Gibbs came and went,” Freddie said. “I know some other shit that came and went, too, n***a. … Just keep my name out y’all mouth man, when y’all talking to people who are doing interviews and shit. Just say ‘next question, man. I don’t want to talk about that n***a, man.’ Just say ‘next motherfuckin’ question.’ For real.”
