Beyoncé Announces COVID-19 Relief Fund, Dissect Podcast Takes on ‘Lemonade’

Written by on April 23, 2020

Spotify’s Dissect podcast is back for Season 6, and the premiere is focused on Beyoncé’s highly acclaimed 2016 album Lemonade.

The first three episodes of Season 6 are now available to stream, with an episode dedicated to setting the stage and one for “Hold Up.” The bonus third ep sees host Cole Cuchna and new co-host Titi Shodiya visit the Louisiana plantations featured in the Lemonade film. The surprise drop of the new Bey-focused episodes follows the Season 5 finale in January, which put a spotlight on Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN

During an interview with Radio Milwaukee in 2018, Dissect host Cole Cuchna made it clear he wanted to take a look at Lemonade on an episode of the podcast. “If Beyoncé ever puts Lemonade on Spotify I’d love to do that,” he explained. “But unfortunately, it doesn’t make sense for me to because I’m working for Spotify. So hopefully one day she’ll do that and I can do it.”

Lemonade finally made its way to Spotify and Apple Music in 2019 after remaining exclusive to Tidal for three years.

The new episodes of the podcast arrive just as Beyoncé’s BeyGOOD organization has partnered with Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey’s #StartSmall to provide $6 million as part of COVID-19 pandemic relief efforts. The initiative is also being launched with the National Alliance on Mental Illness, which will help offer support to locals in Houston, New York, New Orleans, and Detroit. Among the organizations to benefit from the fund are the United Memorial Medical Center, Bread of Life, and Matthew 25.

Check out all three episodes of the podcast above.
