Big Boi Responds to Controversial Outkast x EarthGang Comparison

YesJulz found herself back in headlines this week, after making a controversial comparison between OutKast and Dreamville duo EarthGang.
“Earthgang is like the OutKast of this generation only with two Andre’s. I’m so here for it,” she tweeted. “& don’t fuckin @ me.”
As expected, YesJulz was immediately slammed for her perceived disrespect toward the second half of OutKast, Big Boi; however, the social media personality has since tried to defend herself, claiming her tweet was not intended to dismiss Big Boi’s artistry or his contributions to OutKast.
Dreamville president Ibrahim “Ib” Hamad has also addressed the OutKast x EarthGang comparison, insisting he welcomes the attention it brings to the label’s rising duo. The comments arrived just days after EarthGang delivered their studio album, MirrorLand.
Though YesJulz continues to be dragged on Twitter, Big Boi isn’t really sweating her comments. The ATL rapper addressed the situation during a recent appearance on The Breakfast Club with Sleepy Brown. Big Boi said he first heard about the drama from his son, who became concerned after noticing his dad was trending on Twitter.
“He’s like, ‘Some white bitch had said something [about you] … but they kilin’ that broad,'” Big Boi recalled at the top of the interview. “… I was like, ‘I’ll see you in a little bit.’ So, I don’t know.”
He continued: “When you reach god-MC status, it’s hard for people to see you up here in these clouds. You just gotta pull the tape, man. Twenty-five years, when I won everything and done everything in music—and personally. I’m so proud now that I was able to maintain my family, my wife. I got three kids in college … So life is lovely, man.”

Big Boi and Sleepy Brown appeared on the show to promote their upcoming single “Intentions” featuring CeeLo Green. The track will land on their long-awaited collaborative album, Big Sleepover.
