Billie Eilish has made Grammys history.
The 18-year-old has become the youngest artist to sweep all four major categories at this year’s ceremony: Record of the Year (“bad guy”) Song of the Year (“bad guy”), Best New Artist, and Album of the Year (WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?). During her acceptance speech for the latter category, Billie told the crowd that Ariana Grande‘s Thank U, Next was the more deserving project.
“Can I just say, I think Ariana deserves this,” Billie said. “Thank U, Next … I think it deserves more than anything in the world. I love you so much.”
Grande was seen in the crowd mouthing “no, no, no,” before blowing kisses to Eilish. Grande headed into the night with five nominations: Album of the Year, Record of the Year (“7 Rings”), Best Pop Solo Performance (“7 Rings”), Best Pop/Duo Group Performance (“Boyfriend”), and Best Pop Vocal Album (Thank U, Next). She left the ceremony with zero wins.
