bLAck pARty Shares “On My Way” Single, Announces ‘Hummingbird’ Album
Written by SOURCE on June 16, 2022
After dropping “Hotline” back in May, bLAck pARty has returned with his latest single “On My Way.” It’ll appear on his newly announced album Hummingbird, set for July 14 via the Childish Gambino-affiliated Wolf + Rothstein and RCA Records.
The track—co-written by his dad—finds the artist gently crooning over a lush strum of guitars and clicking hi-hats as he tries to navigate traffic to get to his lover in time for dinner.
“I wrote ‘On My Way!’ in the thick of 2020 with Willy Yanez and my father, Kevin Flint,” bLAck pARty said in a press release. “When working on my album, I brought the song with me into 2022 and we pushed to finalize it with Beat Butcha. The song is very close to my heart, it’s more autobiographical than you would think. I’m always late but it’s important to me that the people I love know that I think of them while they wait for me.”
The Arkansas-born, Los Angeles-based bLAck pARty released his Birds & Bees two-song pack in 2021. Hummingbird will be his first LP since his 2019 release Endless Summer.
