Body of Missing Alabama 3-Year-Old Kamille ‘Cupcake’ McKinney Found in Dumpster

Written by on October 23, 2019

The body of a three-year-old girl who went missing earlier this month from a birthday party in Birmingham, Alabama is believed to have been found in a dumpster.

The Birmingham Police Department and the FBI discovered what they believe to be the remains of Kamille “Cupcake” McKinney Tuesday night in a dumpster that had been moved to a landfill near the Warrior area after previously being parked in Center Point, according to an overnight report from AL.com

“Our investigators, along with the FBI, have worked tirelessly, 24 hours a day, to locate this young child and bring her back home and to hold those accountable who were involved in her disappearance … and ultimately her demise,” Birmingham Police Chief Patrick Smith told reporters.

Now, police say, charges of capital murder and kidnapping are planned for 39-year-old Patrick Stallworth and 29-year-old Derick Irisha Brown. Both had previously been taken into custody the day after Kamille was abducted, with authorities noting that his Toyota Sequoia matched a description given to investigators by other children who said they had seen a man “handing candy to kids” at Tom Brown Village.

Per the Associated Press, Stallworth was held on unrelated child pornography charges and Brown was arrested in connection with an unrelated kidnapping.

“Tonight, we’re a city in mourning,” Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin said Tuesday night. “Kamille McKinney is gone. Ripped away from her daily. The pain her family is enduring right now is unimaginable. Know that whomever perpetrated this crime will be brought to justice and will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
