Boosie Badazz is calling for the National Basketball Association (NBA) to update their logo as a tribute to Kobe Bryant, who was among those killed in a tragic helicopter crash in Calabasas over the weekend.
“Rest in peace, Kobe,” Boosie said in an IG video late Sunday “This shit sad, dawg. This fucked up, man . . . It’s only right that the NBA take Jerry West off the logo and put Kobe Bryant on the logo, man. That’s only right, man. Fuck that, man. You gotta put Kobe Bryant on the NBA logo.”
In a separate post, Boosie shared a mock-up of what this proposed new logo might look like:
And on a repost of Boosie’s call for the logo tribute by The Shade Room, 21 Savage was among those who expressed support for the move.
Kobe Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter Gianna were killed in the helicopter crash on Sunday morning. Per CNN, Orange Coast College baseball coach John Altobelli, wife Keri, and daughter Alyssa were also killed. Christina Mauser, an assistant basketball coach at a private school in Corona del Mar, was also a victim.
At the Grammy Awards on Sunday, which were broadcast live from the Staples Center, many artists shared tribute messages in honor of Kobe Bryant. During a special previously planned tribute segment to Nipsey Hussle, for example, a photo of Kobe Bryant was displayed with DJ Khaled also giving the late basketball icon a special shout-out.
