Bronx Zoo Condemns Viral Video of Woman Climbing Into Lion Enclosure

Bothering animals is an objectively stupid way to spend one’s time, particularly when the stupidity occurs at a zoo with a lion.
A spokesperson for the Bronx Zoo has issued a statement condemning an example of this behavior seen in viral footage of a woman waving her hands and dancing inside the facility’s African lion exhibit.
“This action was a serious violation and unlawful trespass that could have resulted in serious injury or death,” the spokesperson told CNN, per their article on this ridiculousness. The spokesperson also pointed out the zoo’s zero tolerance policy on this type of guest behavior.
“Barriers and rules are in place to keep both visitors, staff and animals safe. We have a zero tolerance policy on trespass and violation of barriers,” the rep said.
The footage in question sees a woman seemingly attempting to taunt the lion while being merely feet away from each other. In the background, you can hear bystanders remarking that she “shouldn’t be doing that” and questioning whether the woman was alone.
No injuries were reported, with an NYPD rep saying Tuesday that no arrests had been made. The Bronx Zoo, however, has filed a complaint for criminal trespass.
