Brother of 49ers QB C.J. Beathard Fatally Stabbed

The younger brother of 49ers quarterback C.J. Beathard was killed Saturday morning in Nashville.
According to Nashville authorities, 22-year-old Clayton Beathard was fatally stabbed at around 2:50 a.m. during a fight outside the Dogwood Bar. Officers say the altercation began inside the establishment, when separate parties began arguing over a woman. The altercation continued outside and quickly turned into a physical fight, leaving Clayton Beathard, 21-year-old Paul Trapeni III, and another unidentified 21-year-old with stab wounds. Nashville police say Beathard and Trapeni were transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where they died from their injuries. The third victim remains hospitalized.
Authorities have released a photo of a man who is wanted in connection with the fatal stabbings. According to WKRN, several Nashville businesses, including Dogwood Bar, are offering a $20,000 reward for anyone with information that leads to a conviction.
C.J. Beathard was the starting quarterback for Long Island University this season. The junior is also the son of country music songwriter Casey Beathard and the grandson of NFL Hall of Famer Bobby Beathard. The 49ers released a statement expressing condolences to the Beathard family.
“The 49ers family was shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the tragedy involving C.J. Beathard’s younger brother, Clayton,” the message read. “We extend our heartfelt sympathies to C.J. and the entire Beathard family as they cope with the unthinkable loss of a loved one. C.J. has traveled home to join his family knowing he has the support of our entire organization as they grieve the passing of Clayton.”
