Browns Fans Clown Reporter After He Falls for Fake Head Coach Rumor

It’s not uncommon for fake news to circulate due to trolls, and a recent story about the Cleveland Browns’ ongoing head coach search is no exception. In an article for 3DownNation, a local Cleveland reporter claimed the team was “talking to” Toronto Argonauts head coach Ryan Dinwiddie. The report claimed a source close to the situation had heard first-hand that interviews with Dinwiddie had taken place, but someone has already taken credit for starting the fake rumor.
Alongside a screenshot that showed the text sent to reporter Tony Grossi, Twitter user @BeansieARamp admitted to starting the rumor that Dinwiddie was involved in the Browns’ search for a new head coach. “That time (last Friday) I texted Tony Grossi a fake rumor and he ran with it,” Beansie tweeted. In the text shared, they claimed that their source was A.J. Ouellette, a running back for the Argonauts. This was, of course, not true.
While the search for a new head coach continues (without Dinwiddie involved), fans took great joy in seeing the troll result in news stories, especially considering Grossi’s track record. Check out what Browns fans had to say about the blunder below.
