Browns Welcomes Summer with the Exclusive-Filled Bucket Hat Project
Written by SOURCE on June 7, 2019
Festival Season is firmly upon us as we head towards Fashion Week, and to usher the season in with style Browns is launching the exclusive Bucket Hat Project.
Hitting Browns as one of their most significant Menswear projects this summer, the Bucket Hat Project looks to 90s and Brit Pop culture to celebrate the modern hype of bucket hats. An accessory you’ll happily find on the heads of dads worldwide, buckets have had their place in fashion for what feels like a lifetime, with countless designers putting their own spin on the timeless shape. Using their position as a premium Menswear boutique, Browns will be elevating the status of bucket hats further through the delivery of collaborations and exclusives from some of the industries hottest brands, showcasing the wide variations in shape, fabrication, and colour each has to offer.
Speaking on the decision to focus on bucket hats this season, Browns Menswear Buyer Thom Scherdel said: “Bucket hats are a huge part of British culture and resonate with people having a good time. They are not just a trend for 2019, they have been a constant throughout some really seminal musical moments which has led to them becoming more mainstream and popular. A lot of focus is on ‘Madchester’ birthing it but actually it was hip hop before becoming Britpop. LL Cool J and Run DMC were wearing them long before Liam Gallagher and Ian Brown. They’re made for summer holidays, festivals and raves – it’s a proper feel-good piece.”
Browns is set to kick off the Bucket Hat Project with an in-store installation at Browns East on June 7th, followed by an event during LFWM. The project is set to bring exclusives and collaborations from the likes of Burberry, Prada, Kangol x Stain Shade, Off-White, Alyx, and more.
