Bun B Is Pushing for a UGK and 8Ball & MJG ‘Verzuz’ Battle

Bun B is the latest artist to lobby for a shot at Verzuz.
As one half of the dynamic South Texas duo UGK, whose other member, Pimp C, died in 2007, Bun made it clear that he is willing to participate in a handicap match against another fundamental Southern rap group, 8Ball & MJG. On Tuesday, Bun took to Instagram, where he posted a mock flyer for a potential UGK/Ball & MJG Verzuz battle, and explained that Timbaland and Swizz Beatz want to gauge the level of interest in the potential battle.
“@therealswizzz and @timbaland are open to having us on @verzuztv y’all,” Bun wrote. “They just wanna see that the people want it. So tag them in my comments. Then repost the pic by @willo_hdesign to your page and story and tag them again. Let’s get the word out!”
Both UGK and 8Ball & MJG have classic records that helped define the Southern rap sound, and judging by the early reaction online, this might actually happen.
News of the potential battle comes just as Verzuz continues to address ongoing sound issues. It’s now been reported that Swizz Beatz and Timbaland will require artists to use a special system made by Roland, specifically for these virtual battles.
“Roland [Corporation] actually created a special system that they made for Verzuz for IG. And it works. Like you look at Ludacris’ sound, it works. You can tell who’s using the setup and who’s not using the setup. It’s only a couple plugs that’s gonna change ya life. 112 was using it. I don’t think Jagged Edge was using it,” Swizz told Revolt. “We’re gonna make that an enforceable rule. You cannot do Verzuz unless you use the technology that we’re sending you because we’re sending it to you for a reason.”
